This travel day is a new one for me. From our Airbnb it would just be a bit over an hour to get to Port Canaveral for the Harmony of the Seas sailing. However, since my sisters are flying into Orlando, I’m driving there the day before our cruise.
Travel Afternoon
My husband drove me to the Daytona Beach airport after lunch where I picked up a intermediate size car from the Budget counter. This is our first time going to this airport and I’m impressed with how new it looks along with the lack of activity.
No line (with or without Fastbreak) and I was soon on my way to a row of cars to the side of the terminal. I am assigned a Toyota corolla that seems small for an intermediate car but should accommodate three of us and three large suitcases.
I put up my Sunpass device, try in vain to find the USB port before taking off. It was a smooth ride to the Country Inn & Suites Orlando Airport hotel. By the time I got checked in my sisters had already landed and got their luggage shortly after.
Sister M then found out this hotel doesn’t offer a shuttle and set up a uber ride for $14. The hotel is older but the rooms are mostly updated.
The TV is a bit small (and too low to see well from the beds).
There was a table in the corner instead of a desk but we really didn’t need one for this stay. The bathroom was in great condition.
Cheddars Dinner
We decided to eat at Cheddars which was close by and got there shortly before 5 pm. Sister M and I tried a couple of cocktails (I had the watermelon vodkarita and she had the Texas margarita).
Great price for the size of drink!
Sister T ordered chicken pot pie which came with a salad (not shown).
Sister M had the ribeye steak special and I ordered the beer-battered shrimp.
My entree also came with side salad.
We all enjoyed our meals including the wonderful caramel croissants that we ate before I could take a pic!
Afterwards we navigated back to the hotel for the evening. Despite our best attempts all of us went to sleep early meaning we would be up too early on Sunday.
Fortunately Sister T had let me know that earlier check in times opened up. We were able to snag noon for her and sister M and 12:30 for me. That will get us onboard in time for lunch.
