Grandeur, November 28, 2005 Aruba

KayLynn · November 28, 2005 · Leave a Comment

We’re in Aruba today.  Steve and I had booked the half day jeep safari excursion.  We left at 8:30 am on a party bus for the office were the jeeps were parked.  We were then paired with another couple, Lee and Mike from Phoenix.

Steve drove the first half of the trip.

We stopped at a nature reserve and saw Indian petroglyphs.

The next stop was the natural bridge.

Then we headed to the gold mine ruins where we changed drivers.

We drove by the old catholic church and then stopped at the California lighthouse after viewing beautiful, rugged scenery.

Our next stop was Arashi Beach where we spent a half hour enjoying the beautiful beach and water.

The tour included ice cold bottled water or soda.

We drove by hotel row and saw the resorts.  After dropping the jeeps off and tipping our guide, the party bus returned us to the ship.  We headed onboard to grab lunch at the Windjammer.  Steve had ribs and fried chicken while I had Hungarian goulash over rice.

We showered before heading out to walk around downtown.  We enjoyed the colorful buildings and browsed the shops before returning to the ship for a pre-dinner nap.

We were the only ones at our table tonight.

  • Appetizers: crab cake, mixed greens salad, new England clam chowder
  • Entrees: Grilled pork chop, lamp chops
  • Dessert: Chocolate ice cream, bananas foster, baked Alaska

We found the rest of our family afterwards and learned they returned to the ship after 6 pm following a 2 hour minibus tour. Sailaway was at 7.

Steve and I went to the production show” My Romance”  which we followed with watching Monday night football in the cabin.

Clocks were set back one hour tonight.  Our towel animal was a mouse.

Today’s movies are “Phantom of the Opera” and “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”.
