We are scheduled to arrive in Costa Maya today at noon. The family met this morning for breakfast in the dining room.
Then Steve and I went to the Crown Viking Lounge to watch for land, read and journal. Once we spotted land it was time to get ready for our day ashore. Thinking the lido buffet would be very busy we all had lunch in the dining room about 11:30 am.
- Appetizers: black bean soup
- Entrees: fish and chips, chicken ceasar salad
- Dessert: Profiteroles
The ship had cleared while we were eating so we debarked afterwards. The pier here is very long but there is a free tram for passengers. My mom and sister M took that while we walked it. The water is beautifully clear and we saw lots of fish.
The port has a shopping plaza with lots of little shops, a couple of restaurants, a pool and lots of beach chairs. We agreed to meet in half an hour and split up to roam the shops. I found an embroidered dress for my granddaughter while one sister bought dolls for hers.
We took a taxi to the village of Mahajual which was about 10 minutes for $3 each. It is a very small town without paved roads.
We found a beach bar where we were set up with chairs, umbrellas and drinks.
The water was shallow out to the break water (coral reef) which was about 1/4 mile out. My husband and BIL did some snorkeling and saw lots of fish and sea life. The rest of us enjoyed the shallower water and our loungers. 🙂
Sister M and I visited one of the massage tables and had 45 minute massages for $20 each.
My mom and sister T did some jewelry shopping.
All together our group had 4 buckets of coronas (6 to a bucket), 9 margaritas, nachos, chips and salsa, cheese quesadilla and two beef taco plates for a total of $132.
The taxi price dropped to $2 per person back to the pier and we left about 5:30. Tonight we skipped the dining room and had a light dinner at the Windjammer.
That night while enjoying the balcony before sailaway I noticed a woman leave the ship with 5 suitcases and wondered what that was about…
