Five Things Friday

This morning brought news that my paycheck was in the bank.  It was a surprise because the actual payday is Monday but I guess because the banks are closed for Martin Luther King day we got paid early.  My office will be open for business.  Do you get the holiday off?

Here’s what’s been up in my world this past week.

Summer in Winter

I almost hate to mention this because so many of you have been dealing with extreme cold weather this winter.  We’re having the opposite in Southern California. The temperature has been in the 80’s the past few days but it is dipping down to the mid-70’s tomorrow.

Our 10 day forecast shows the “coldest” day will have a high of 73 degrees with only 10% chance of rain.  That’s the downside. We are so desperate for rain as we’ve had  none in what is normally a wet month.  With warm winds and dry brush the big danger is not floods but fires and one hit yesterday with the loss of four homes.

One positive note is that I can ditch my sweaters and jackets and break out the sandals.

Target Data Breach

We shopped at Target twice during the timeframe data was stolen.  American Express hasn’t replaced my credit card yet but I’m probably going to request a replacement.  If you were impacted (which is very likely since 110 million customers are involved) then apply for the one year free credit monitoring offer.  The site is creditmonitoring.target.com and you must active the service by April 30, 2014.

Lung Cancer Event

free_to_breathe

The fight against lung cancer is important to me as it claimed my father 11 years ago.   The National Lung Cancer partnership has teamed with the Societe Brewing Company  in San Diego to raise awareness for lung cancer! The Brews for Breathing fundraising event will last all day, and the National Lung Cancer Partnership will have a table set up each night from 5:30-9:00 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Free to Breathe San Diego 5K event.

You can learn about other Free to Breathe events across the country HERE.

Giveaways

The Zhena’s tea prize pack giveaway ends tomorrow so be sure to get your entry in.  I’m also giving away a copy of Lisa Whelchel’s Everyday Workout for the Everyday Woman DVD.

You’ll want to come back on Sunday for a new giveaway that will give a boost to your 2014 workouts!

2014 Goals

I’ve been working on my 2014 goals.  One of them was to blog every day this month.  You didn’t see a post Wednesday but I consider it a success because I was busy working on another blogging goal which was to start a blog carnival.  I wrote two pages in support of it and will be announcing the details next week.

I’d love if you will leave a comment with what’s been going on with you this week.  Have a great weekend!

Work is just insane from January 1st through mid-February and I’ve just started an e-Marketing class through the local community college, so it’s a little hectic over here. Figuring out the right balance is tricky but it’s a great problem to have!

So right about these being great problems. I’ll have to learn more about your e-marketing class next time I see you.
