After a great sleep I was up shortly before 7 am so I could buy Genie+ for the day and we could make first reservation (open at 7 am). This it was coffee! My back wasn’t hurting like last night but I definitely have some sore areas on my feet from all that walking.
Today we’re going to the Disney’s Hollywood Studio and planned to leave the condo about 9:30. Breakfast was leftovers.
Hollywood Studios
This is my first time to this park and I wasn’t sure what to expect. We took ride share there and this time the drop off is quite a walk to the main entrance.
Thank goodness this park is smaller (for the sake of my feet) and it doesn’t have as many attractions. I’ll recap our experience by areas of Hollywood Studios.
The entrance is simpler but the same security. I set off the detector with my power bank again but was cleared after my purse was searched.
Hollywood Boulevard
There’s just one attraction in this area and I don’t think we saw it. What we did do was eat lunch at the Hollywood Brown Derby (later in the day).
We were seated at the booth on the far left in the photo above which was a comfortable table for our meal. My DIL recommended the margaritas and I ordered a flight of three that included blood orange, pomegranate and classic margaritas.
It was very refreshing. We were also served a basket of delicious rolls right away. They were so good we had a second one. My grandson didn’t care for the kid options here so he had a pizza ordered from a nearby eatery and brought in. My DIL had their famous cobb salad (which looked very good).
I went with coq au vin.
It was good but the chicken was a little dry. I wished I had ordered the salad. 🙂
Outside the restaurant Chip and Dale were making an appearance by these 50th Anniversary statues. First Flounder and Sebastian from the Little Mermaid.
We also saw Joe from the movie Soul.
I haven’t seen this one but will have to do so.
Sunset Boulevard, Grand Avenue and Animation Courtyard
I’m grouping these three together because there’s not much to say. Tower of Terror was shut down a lot during the day and when it was open the wait was extremely long. My grandson isn’t a fan of roller coasters (I’m with him) so we skipped the Rock n’ Roll coaster.
We did see the Muppetvision 3D show in the Grand Avenue area. It was pretty entertaining.
The Walt Disney Presents gallery/exhibit was pretty interesting. I do like the way Mickey looks now better. We got to see a preview clip from Turning Red which is the next Disney movie. It was a different kind of story in a good way.
Toy Story Land
We all rode the Toy Story Mania shooting game. I was the worst shooter of the three ( but very high accuracy) while DIL was the best. It was pretty fun. They rode the slinky dog dash after I left for the day but more about that later.
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
We did the Stars War Rise of Resistance ride and I enjoyed it. I didn’t do the Millenium Falcon Smugglers Run but my DIL and grandson might have; I took a rest once while they did a ride and can’t remember which one. 🙂
Star Wars the Adventure continues is technically in Echo Lake area but should be included in this grouping. It was my favorite ride of day. There are apparently a couple of dozen variations so each time you ride it is an unique experience.
Echo Lake
My rest was on the steps of the theater across from Echo Lake. While there I saw the character parade for about the third time today.
They found me and we used our Genie+ pass for the Indiana Jones stunt show. This was a very entertaining show and educational at the same time. It was also a nice to sit in the shade with a gentle breeze.
I was done after this and decided to go back to the resort. We parted ways and they headed to the slinky dog coaster.
Hollywood Studios Evening
I waited quite a while for a lyft back to the resort. Uber was twice as much so I saved money and sat on a bench waiting. Once back in our condo I took advantage of the jacuzzi bath to soak my tired (and sweaty) self including my feet which had a couple of big blisters.
My DIL texted me they were going to Epcot and having dinner there. I decided to go over to the hotel restaurant/bar and find something. There weren’t a lot of options at the Toscana Pool Bar & Grill but I got a ginger ale (dehydrated a bit) and flatbread (which was really a pizza). It was tasty enough and I enjoyed chatting with a couple of others sitting at the bar.
When they got back we did a load of laundry. Tomorrow we cruise!
