COVID-19: Week 15 #Stayathome Update

KayLynn · June 28, 2020 · Leave a Comment

People of a certain age remember watching the Jetsons in the 60s (and resurrected for a couple of years in the 80s).  It was set in the future and many things the show depicted have not only come to fruition but became the norm thanks to COVID-19.  I still want a flying car!

Coronavirus is getting the best of our nation right now.  With disjointed, often politically influenced, management of the crisis it’s now out of control with over 44,000 cases reported yesterday and rising numbers in over half the states.  As states impose pauses and even rollbacks of reopening, it’s best to just stay at home if possible.

Oh and let’s not forget the more than 125,000 US residents that have already lost their lives in this pandemic.

My Week in Review

As you know I do that pretty much all the time and only had two outings this week other than neighborhood walks for exercise.

Hair Appointment

Until yesterday my last hair appointment was in February.  So you can imagine it needed attention with regrowth, dry ends and color mismatch.  It was the first time since I boarded Empress of the Seas that I had to have my temperature checked before entering a space.

There was great social distancing between chairs but they couldn’t put the hair washing stations 6 week apart due to plumbing.  Instead they have plastic barriers installed between chairs.  Just this past week they’ve been allowed to use hair dryers so I didn’t have to leave with wet hair.

One thing of note is that my hair stylist gave me a disposable mask to use so the color wouldn’t stain the fabric mask I wore inside.  That was much appreciated.  I emerged after 2 1/2 hours with a shorter, layered cut and hair that matched from top to bottom. :). My head feels much lighter! I forgot to take a picture so will post one next week.

Pet Appointments

Annabelle in the stairwell window.

Both animals had appointments this week.  Charger had his bath with nail trim at Petco.  My husband said it was pretty busy and the check-in process was changed to accomodate social distancing.

Annabelle needed a checkup and rabies shot so we took her to the veterinarian’s office where they don’t allow customers in the building.  We parked in one of their four designated spaces and called that we were there.  A vet tech came out to get our animal and tell us the process. The vet then called 10-15 minutes later with the results of his exam and asking if we wanted blood tests.

Not long  after the front desk called for payment information and the last call was that they were bringing her out.  She was fine by the way!

This Coming Week

Another sister is celebrating her birthday this week.  She got her card Saturday and the gift is following. My grandson will be turning 11; boy he’s growing up so fast!

Later in the week our nation marks 244 years of independence.  Fireworks have been cancelled in most areas of San Diego county.  Three displays are still scheduled but two require tickets.  I’m looking forward to the holiday still.  How was your week?
