A ringing phone woke me up this morning at 7 a.m. It was Steve calling from the Lido deck. He couldn’t believe I was still sleeping. I couldn’t believe he woke me up!
Since I was then awake, I dressed and joined him on the Lido deck for some coffee before going to the dining room for breakfast.
It seemed like the entire ship was resting from 5 consecutive port days. It rained off and on throughout the morning. We checked email and then I went to the Future Cruise talk. Brad talked about ways to save on cruising (early saver, stockholder, credit card), best rooms (those with longer balconies, 4Ks, insides that really aren’t, etc.
He reviewed the longer itineraries since obviously this group can (and will) do longer cruises. After that Steve and I went to the dining room for lunch.
We asked for a table for two; I was just too tired for small talk. I had German lentil soup and a bacon cheeseburger. Steve had a bacon burger with guacamole and sauteed onions. They both came with great tasting fries.
For dessert we both had the gingerbread which was not very gingery and kind of dry.
Tonight was Hawaiian night and the ship had free drinks from 4:45-5:30 for early seating and 7-7:45 for second seating. We wore Hawaiian clothing and our leis for the evening. As compared to what we heard about the past guest party, the drinks were readily available. We enjoyed a couple of cocktails before heading into dinner.
I had duck potstickers and a green salad w/ bleu cheese dressing for starters. My entree (as was our tablemates’) was the lentils/corn in phyllo pouches. They were good but the sauce they were in was weirdly sweet (pineapple). Steve had a salad with thousand island dressing for starter and the New York strip steak for his entree. I got a bite and it was delicious!
For dessert I had the Southern Pecan pie which was okay and Steve had the chocolate hazelnut cake and banana split.
We went to the comedy show (family friendly). The first comic, Stanley Ullman, seemed to be really bothered by a lady who was obviously drunk and very loud. The second comic, Lowell Sanders was hilarious!
We came back to the room to watch a little TV and read before retiring.
I believe the towel animal was a male sheep.
