Carnival Miracle Day 2: Sea Day

KayLynn · December 10, 2016 · Leave a Comment

We were up early and first order of business was coffee on the lido deck.  Steve and S1 had gone ahead of me while I got dressed and it took 30 minutes or so until we connected. They went to the smoking side by the front pool and I had forgotten there were 3 pools on this ship!

Hubby wanted steak and eggs at the brunch so we waited to eat until 8:30 when it opened. We had a pastry and fruit to tide us over. The “kids” ate breakfast at the lido.

There was a line when the doors opened for brunch but it moved quickly. We asked for and received a table for two.

We promptly received a basket of bread and then shortly after coffee but it took a few minutes for the waiter to come by.

I ended up ordering Mac and cheese with steak for breakfast. It was fantastic!

Steve felt his eggs and steak were both undercooked.

We didn’t do much in the morning other than sit out on the balcony reading and watching the scenery (we passed islands).

Lunch today was All-American in the buffet. Steve had hamburger and fries from the grill. I did the buffet but regretted it. The fried chicken was really fried chicken chunks. The only thing I enjoyed on that buffet was the mashed potatoes. Today’s chopsticks menu didn’t appeal either. I should have had pizza or a sandwich.

After lunch hubby and I went to the pool for a couple of hours. The serenity area was packed and we went to the forward pool before finding chairs. It had fewer kids than the other pool (where there must have been 15 people in the jacuzzi including 10 kids!)

Pre-dinner cocktails tonight were in the Red Frog pub. I had vodka and ting which were very good.

S1 joined us for a drink…

and we also went out and visited the Taste Bar.

Both the short rib croquette and pumpkin bisque were very good.

We went to the dining room for our assigned 6 pm seating.  There was a long line but it moved fast. Our waiters introduced themselves and asked where we ate the first night.

It was American feast night.  Everyone started with caesar salad except me who had the baby spinach salad.

My husband S1 had shrimp cocktail…

while I enjoyed the cream of mushroom soup.

For entrees, the others all ordered prime rib.

Three of us also had lobster.

I forgot to take a picture of the lobster dish, but it was like my photo from the Carnival Triumph cruise last year.

I had asked for a side of the spaghetti carbonara. What I got was a full size portion AFTER my first entree and it was quite congealed by this point so I didn’t eat it after one bite.

The lobster was very good but my husband said his prime rib was no better than pot roast. It was not tender and was very thinly cut.

Dessert course was delayed until after the dance of the evening.  We lost the other two due to the length of the meal so we went ahead and ordered dessert and coffee.

Steve had creme brulee…

while I had the malted chocolate cake with decaf.

Dinner took so long that we missed most of the production show so we just skipped it. Instead, we decided to go to the 8:15 comedy show and got there to see the end of the 7:30 show too. I enjoyed both comedians and it wasn’t crowded for our show but boy was there was a crowd waiting to get into the 9 pm adult show.

We went back to the cabin for the rest of the evening.  We had two letters today.  The first was bad news for all.

The second was bad news for someone.
