Carnival Horizon: Disembarkation

KayLynn · March 5, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Today we face disembarkation and go back to our homes. We got up right before the alarm went off at 5:45 am. We were already docked!

hello Miami

Last Morning Aboard

After getting dressed I headed to the Java café (finally have my free drink from all the punches) and Sister T went to the smoking area and we agreed to meet at our usual spot in the Lido Marketplace.

We had breakfast there. I had a very good bacon and cheese omelet.

Then we went back to our cabin to brush our teeth and pack everything up. We got to the reflection dining room about 7:20 or so. They were already letting diamonds leave that were carrying all luggage. I think our luggage tag 2 was called about 7:40 or so. We got a cab and was at the airport ($27 flat fee) about 8 am.

Travel Home

Sister T and I said our goodbyes as her flight is about 2 1/2 hours after my noon flight and on different airlines. I got in the American priority check in line and waited about 10 minutes for that and then a longer line at TSA precheck. Took 25 minutes to get through it all.

My gate changed during that time so decided to take the skytrain since it was over 20 gates away.  I had time at the Miami airport to write down some notes and charge up my tablet and phone.

About an hour before boarding, I went over to Versailles by gate D45 and ordered two croquettes and a chicken empanada.  Next time I will just get the empanada and double that order.

So good!

Boarding started a bit late due to delayed flight attendants but it went well. The seat was very cramped and I watched shows on my tablet to while away the time.  (a321-S). We got to Chicago about 20 minutes late but I still had 2 1/2 hours to kill.  This terminal area didn’t have a lot of food options but it had seating, power outlets and restrooms. About an hour before boarding I bought dinner at McDonald’s.

It was a quarter pounder, fries and water.

This plane was completely full as well but at least the seat was a bit more comfortable (737-800).  It was pretty bumpy the first 30 minutes or so but then a smooth flight with nothing to note.  The best kind.

Got off the plane quickly after landing and it was about 20 minutes for the luggage to follow.  Got a ride share very quickly and was home right at 8 pm.  Unfortunately Sister T’s travel day didn’t go so well.  She was stuck in Miami until late at night and ended up being diverted to Houston for the night.  Other than that we had a wonderful trip.
