Weekly Keto Update #10

KayLynn · October 8, 2018 · Leave a Comment

This week was the one where I ate only a handful of meals at home thanks to the conference, book club and travel to Memphis.  This makes it much harder as I can’t preplan meals and am regularly worried about finding something to eat.

A view of the Queen Mary from across the harbor

Although I really shouldn’t worry as I pack keto snacks; hopefully someday this fear will abate.

Progress

I took a couple of pictures at the hotel to share with my husband, but you get to see them too. 🙂

We dressed in our company colors at the booth and here I am in my all new outfit in navy and maize (yellow).  The last day the expo had ended so I got to wear regular business clothes.

I have a waist?!

I was most excited about seeing a bit of a waist!  I didn’t lose a bit of weight but that’s not surprising given the amount of eating and drinking that occurred.  It’s a once a year event so no regrets there and I didn’t eat/drink anything that wasn’t keto.

Only twice did I exceed 20 grams of total carbs a day and the highest was 25.

New Products

The only new product I tried was from the September Keto Krate.  It was Just The Cheese which is another cheese snack.

Here are the nutritional facts.

This is a piece of the cracker.

It was okay but I won’t be going out of my way to buy more. They reminded me of wisps.

Food and Recipes

Here are some of the entrees I had this week.  The first evening in Long Beach we ate at Gladstones where we had indifferent to downright rude service at our table of 14.

The Seafood cobb salad was pretty good.  The next night was a fantastic experience at Parker’s Lighthouse.

The picture of the Queen Mary above was taken from the area outside the restaurant.  My ribeye was perfectly seasoned and cooked.  The last night we had dinner on the Queen Mary at Sir Winstons.

I think the veal medallions had a flour coating which were unexpected carbs but it was wonderful with crab meat, bernaise sauce and asparagus.

Twice I had burgers for lunch at the Hyatt in Long Beach.

I appreciated them wrapping them in lettuce.  I substituted salads for the fries both times.  The best breakfast at the conference was from a coffee shop I found a block from my hotel, Cuppa Cuppa.

It was the first time I had eggs cooked inside avocado halves.  Because of the carbs, I just had one half of the avocado but ate both eggs.

Outside the conference, here are my four favorite meals this past week. First up is the steak and eggs at the Timberline Steaks and Grille restaurant in the Denver airport.

Best of all it was free with my priority pass membership.  Better than any airport lounge!

Next up is the pork belly I fried at home.  This was pre-cooked from Costco and I just had to sear it.

Next are the chicken wings I ordered in Memphis  via Uber Eats.

Nope, I didn’t eat the roll. 🙂 Last but not least is the charcuterie board I ordered at the book club meeting.

Below is the food log from this week.

Breakfast Lunch Dinner Snacks
Sunday eggs, bacon, cream cheese, cream deviled eggs, pickle Gladstone’s: Seafood cobb with ranch dressing, wine Cheese and beef stick

Looking Forward

It’s another week of dining out (Sunday through Friday).  Saturday I will create a food plan and am actually looking forward to some home-cooked meals.

Have a great keto week!
