Voyage of the Vikings: Sea Day 2

KayLynn · June 22, 2024 · Leave a Comment

Today the Zuiderdam is at sea on the way to Greenland.  I was surprised to see it was already 6:30 am when I woke today. Steve was gone and I found him up in the Crow’s Nest.

I ordered a latte and joined him until breakfast time in the main dining room at 8 am.  Today I started with muesli.

This was followed by the ham and cheese skillet.

I’m not sure what else I accomplished this morning other than reading.

My reading room

I had lunch in the buffet and tried the taco corner.

The tortilla chips and hard shells aren’t as good after being left to the air for a while. But it was the most popular area of the lunch spread.  Also had some pork curry.

At 2 pm I went to a talk on Paamiut.

Despite the title the content was about the Viking history of Greenland; nothing about the port stop. Interesting but not what I was expecting.  Then it was tea time in the Lido.

We decided to skip the dining room so dinner was also in the Lido. Here’s the menu for the main dining room.  Click the image for the full menu.

I had the strip steak with mashed potatoes.

Dessert was an apple tart.

It was an interesting sea day. never could see anything outside with fog and the horn was blasting every 2 minutes. It is especially loud in the enclosed pool area so I didn’t want to go there for hot tub time.

Meanwhile Annabelle is adjusting just fine to us being away.

Annabelle is in her sitter’s lap

Went to sleep about 10 pm. Hoping tomorrow it clears up a bit but the Captain said it will actually be rougher seas; no ice bergs though.

Below is today’s daily program.  Click the image for the full PDF.
