Today’s a sea day on the Zuiderdam after three port days in a row. I got to the Crow’s nest about 6 am and ordered an almond latte. It’s a great way to start the day and I will miss them.
Sea Day Morning & Afternoon
We went to the dining room for breakfast and both had the buckwheat pancakes with turkey sausage.
Yum! It took an hour to get our food which was too long but it was very busy this sea day morning.
At 10 am I went to the port talk on Qaqortoq. It was very useful information and I have a screen shot of a walking route to take.

For lunch we ate in the lido since nothing on the MDR menu really appealed. I had the Filipino food; beef two ways and rice.
Also had dessert.
At 1 pm I went to the presentation by Tom G. On The many incredible lives of Fridtjof Nansen.
It was very interesting and what an impressive man we never hear about.
I read some in the afternoon and watched the rest of the Oz movie. It was just okay. I liked the Ghostbusters Afterlife much better.
Sea Day Evening
It is a gala evening and after getting ready we went to the oceanbar for cocktails. I went with the mariner cocktail tonight.
We asked two different servers for peanuts and never got them although tables all around us had them. It wasn’t meant to be tonight I guess. There wasn’t any live music before we left at 5:25 to head to dinner.
This is the fanciest gala menu/table so far. Here’s the menu (click the image for the full menu).
Note the first entree was rightly changed to say “surf and turf” instead of the name on the digital menu. Steve and I both started with the shrimp cocktail.
He got double though. I also had the salad which was just okay since it had prunes and raspberries on it; both of which I had to eat around. Then the main course came.
It was the first time I’d had complimentary lobster on HAL in many years. It was very good. However the beef was not. It was overcooked (ordered medium) AND very tough. I could overlook the first if the meat was better.
None of the desserts appealed to me so I got the cheese plate.
Wish they gave you more than these two little crackers. Plus more substantial ones would be nice but that’s not essential. Steve had creme brulee.
We skipped entertainment and read and watched TV until I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. We had this guy waiting for us in the cabin. I think it’s a turtle?
The clocks move back one hour again tonight and I know we’ll be up early tomorrow! We also got this terrible handout about disembarkation! It’s still over a week away thankfully.
