The Break is Over (Where I’ve Been)

It wasn’t your imagination.  Weight Chronicles has been silent for the past four weeks with the exception of a couple of sponsored posts.  At first it was going to be Thanksgiving break but then I was sick followed by vacation.

I also took care of Christmas related tasks before vacation which made it busy but I could forget about all the holiday stuff while enjoying the Caribbean.  Here’s a peak at the past month!

Thanksgiving morning my husband and I flew to Florida for a few days in the Florida Keys. Unfortunately I had started getting sick with a cold that week but was in denial thinking it was allergies.  It led to a burst eardrum and the most intense pain.  It was all I could do not to scream!

To add insult to injury our hotel was far enough out of Miami that we couldn’t find a restaurant to eat Thanksgiving dinner at by the time we arrived.  Our meal ended up being turkey sandwiches bought at a Target cafe which was open for black Friday shopping.

The scenery the next day driving the Overseas highway helped make up for the bad vacation start!

We had a great time despite my illness in Key West. Some of the experiences we had included touring the Hemingway House, the Harry Truman Little White House and visiting a dessert-only restaurant.

There was lots of wildlife to see as well.

After a couple of days in Key West (and a trip to Urgent Care) we headed to Marathon where we stayed at a resort there.  We didn’t do much other than enjoy the sun, scenery and seafood as I was feeling pretty sick.

A couple of days after I finished my antibiotics it was time to return to Florida.  This time to go on a cruise with my brother and one of my sisters.  We sailed on the Holland America Eurodam and had a wonderful vacation.

Ports included Grand Turk where we enjoyed the beach and had tasty jerk chicken.

Our next port was San Juan Puerto Rico.  We visited Old San Juan and took a great 90 minute city tour for $10!

Twice we ran into musical performances on the streets. What fun people!

The third port was Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.  I’ve been here several times but this was the first time we docked at Crown Bay so we went to a new to us nearby beach.  Emerald Beach was beautiful, uncrowded and relaxing.

We paid $7 for a chair and $3 for a float mat and spent several hours there.

The final (and my favorite beach of all time) was the cruise line’s private Bahamas island, Half Moon Cay.

The next day we had to leave the ship and go home.  I was happy to see my husband and pets but miss my siblings, the beautiful ship, delicious food and great service.

The blogging break left me refreshed and ready to hit 2015 healthy and motivated.  Are you ready?

Nicolthepickle, it was very painful. My husband thought I was exaggerating until I showed him the blood. Thankfully, it’s all healed now and I can FINALLY hear everything again.

Trip sounds wonderful. And, taking a break while sick and on a trip was certainly reasonable to do. Have a wonderful holiday.
