Symphony of the Seas: Disembarkation and Final Thoughts

KayLynn · April 27, 2024 · Leave a Comment

Today is back to reality as we disembark the Symphony of the Seas.

Symphony Disembarkation

Our nieghbors were very noisy last night and we finally heard the last of them about midnight.  Then I woke at 4 am and couldn’t get back to sleep.  An hour later we got dressed and headed to cafe promenade for coffee.  The ship was already docked.

Today we’re trying something new which is carrying off our luggage so we can get on the road as soon as possible.   We got notice yesterday the pod with all our belongings will be delivered early in the day.  I let our neighbors know in case the driver had questions even though it is supposed to be contactless.

We went to breakfast at the Park Cafe when it opened.

In addtion to this we also had breakfast sandwiches.  We then went back to the cabin to finish getting ready and headed to the self debark line about 6:50 or so.

We got in the line and it grew and grew and grew. Unfortunately our estimated time was optimistic. We didn’t start moving until 7:35 but the delay might have been due to the person taken off in handcuffs.

Once off the ship, we moved quickly and the facial recognition made getting out of the terminal easy. We found the parking garage elevators and went straight to our car.  Steve drove us home and it was fairly easy to get out of the port area and onto I-95 for the next 3 plus hours.  We were back in Daytona Beach at 11:40 and found the pod ready for our move-in.

Final Thoughts

Steve having fun with this fun art piece.

We had a great time this sailing despite the timing issue with our move.   As always, there’s room for improvement but it was definitely more great than bad.

Top Symphony of the Seas Pros

One thing I always say is best on Royal Caribbean is the entertainment and that was true this time.  We loved the aqua show, broadway show and ice shows!  There was lot more entertainment but we couldn’t make it all.

Our cabin was comfortable and had more than enough storage for us.

The rest of the ship was decorated beautifully for the holidays and we never felt crowded moving around from space to space.

As always I appreciate the adults only solarium as an option to the family pools but didn’t really have a problem finding seats at either venue.    Last but not least was the Diamond benefits on Royal Caribbean definitely enhance the experience.  Thanks to the four free beverages a day, we walked away with a $50 final balance after onboard credit was applied.

Symphony of the Seas Cons

Although I don’t like the issue I had getting paper programs there was really one area that requires improvement in my mind and that has to do with the main dining room.  First of all the tables are way too close together.  Then the new menus are terrible with not enough variety or any everyday items.  I predict this will be changing in the future.

Car on promenade

I will be sailing next on Royal Caribbean with ladies from the community but would be happy to be back on an Oasis class ship again.
