Norwegian Escape: Sea Day 1

KayLynn · May 20, 2024 · Leave a Comment

Today is the our first sea day on Norwegian Escape. I didn’t have an easy time sleeping so Steve was up and out before I woke.

Sea Day Morning

My morning started after 6 am with some in-room coffee. Then I met Steve in the Garden Cafe for more coffee before we went to breakfast at O’Sheehans.  Surprisingly there were only a couple of people seated already.

My choice was pancakes and bacon.

The pancakes weren’t very good but I ate them. Steve had the American breakfast with eggs over easy.

One egg was cooked right and the other was overcooked but otherwise good.  He also had French toast and thought it was tasteless.

Then we went looking for a place to relax this morning. We knew the pool would be a crazy zone based on embarkation. We got a couch and chairs on the Waterfront enjoying the breeze and stayed there for a few hours.

Steve took a couple of walking breaks. I finished the April book club choice, The Measure, and loved it.

Sea Day Afternoon

We went to the dining room for lunch when it opened.

Our table had a nice ocean view.

I started with the mushroom soup and really enjoyed it.

Steve had the bistro salad (sure looks like a cobb salad, right?).

My entree was the bbq pork ribs and I really liked them.

Steve enjoyed his cheeseburger.

It doesn’t come with any sauces on it so be sure to ask for them if you want it.  For dessert Steve had the chocolate molten cake.

My choice was the milk chocolate cheesecake.

We both loved the desserts.  Then it was off to the latitudes party where we had cocktails and cheese plates.

This is the same act, Duo Essenza, that played by the pool Saturday and they are very good.

Some of the officers came by and asked about our experience. We learned about itineraries available.

On our way back to the cabin we swung by the garden cafe to see if they had cookies out. I asked one of the managers and he said they’re out during the snack time starting at 2:30.

By this time we were both ready for a nap. Two hours later I found Steve having tea and joined him. He really likes that the garden cafe doesn’t shut down. Plus he found cookies. 🙂

Sea Day Evening

We needed to eat an early dinner in order to make our 7 pm Choir of Man reservations.  We got ready for dinner and headed to the dining room.

Sea Day Dinner

I started with the crab and corn chowder.

It was very good soup.  Steve had a Cesar’s salad.

He doesn’t like that the lunch menu one has spinach in it but this one doesn’t.  I had a second appetizer, potstickers.

Steve ordered the chicken cordon blue for his entree and really enjoyed the chicken.

He didn’t like the German potato salad.  I didn’t enjoy my pork belly.

It was so crispy I couldn’t cut through the skin. Tried eating from the bottom and it was dried and stringy. I just ate the sides which were good.  I had enough food so didn’t want to order something else even though my server offered.

For dessert Steve went with one of his favorites, carrot cake.

It was an interesting presentation but he liked it. I had the chocolate espresso cake which I thought was too dry.

I loved the ice cream.

Choir of Man

We got to the theater right about 6:30 and the standby line was already forming. We had a good pick of seats although a lot of the ones upfront were taken.

As soon as we sat down a bar server was there to take our order. Loved it!

The pre show started about 15 minutes before and people were invited to come up and have a “pint”.

We enjoyed the people watching.  The show was as good as all the hype. We loved it! Steve said he was glad I insisted we go which is high praise indeed.

Afterwards we went to the Mixx bar and had a night cap before heading off to our cabin.
