Norwegian Epic: Aruba

KayLynn · May 6, 2024 · Leave a Comment

Today the Norwegian Epic visits Aruba and I was up in time for coffee and breakfast before my excursion.

Aruba Morning

I thought I would have breakfast with C and A but they decided to sleep in a bit so ran to the buffet to get an omelette before my excursion.

It wasn’t cooked as well as I would prefer but the potatoes were great.  The ship was cleared about 7:45 amand I got off 15 minutes later.

Aruba Excursion

It was a very short walk to the bus for my booked excursion.  What a colorful bus it was!

Our driver Jaime was a lot of fun too and he instructed us on how to be loud and shake those maracas! Yes, each seat came with one to use.

The seating was tight but the ambiance made up for it.  And yes, the bus was as colorful inside as out.

After the buses filled off we went. There were a total of three buses and I was in the second one.  The first stop (of 3) was the Casibari Rock formations.

I skipped climbing the largest due to lack of handrails up and down.

I did climb a smaller one and still had a very nice view.

There is nice gardens here, a free bathroom and some vendors.

The next stop was the Alto Vista chapel.

It’s a beautiful area and the chapel was plain but pretty.

Vendors were here as well to sell to the tourists.

Our last and longest stop was Arashi Beach which was right by the California lighthouse where we went our first tour in Aruba many years ago.

The tour came with a lounger and access to the restrooms at the beach bar there.

I did pay $20 for an umbrella and had shade except when I was in the water.  My snack was a protein bar I brought and bottle of water.  The water was quite clear here and I could see my feet in the sand no matter how far out I went. It was a beautiful beach and I greatly enjoyed our time there.  I never did order anything but here are the menus.

All too soon it was time to leave.  The bus dropped us off right where we started by the ship.

Aruba Afternoon

After getting cleaned up I went to O’Sheehan’s for a late lunch. My drink was a Moscow mule — seems weird without the copper cup.

I had the chili Thai chicken wings to start.

Then followed with the chili.

Both were excellent.  For dessert I went with the carrot cake.

The cake part was good but the frosting was too sweet for my taste.

Then it was nap time. C and A returned right about when I was waking a couple of hours later. I went up for tea and scone at the Great Outdoors.

That scone was dry!

Aruba Evening

We decided to have dinner at Shanghai’s and got in right when they opened so we could make the 7 pm magic show.

C and I both had the spring rolls.

I also had the fried potstickers. Yum!

My entree was the Peking chicken noodle dish.

It was good. I skipped dessert but C enjoyed the tapioca pudding. A had the kids mac and cheese and chicken tenders for dinner.

The magic show was Greg Gleason and it was entirely card tricks but man were they wonderful tricks. I think everyone there enjoyed the show!

Afterwards we were all tired and went separate ways. I read in bed until lights out at 10 pm.
