Next Vacation: Liberty of the Seas

KayLynn · November 14, 2017 · Leave a Comment

The cruise with all the (adult) kids initiative is still in progress with us taking two sons and their wives on our next cruise coming up.  This one is on Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas sailing out of Galveston on a seven day Western Caribbean itinerary.

Although this is my 24th cruise there are still a lot of new to me reasons to be excited about this cruise.

Galveston Port

Sister T. and I sailed into Galveston on the Carnival Triumph a couple of years ago but that was a one way trip.  This is my first time sailing out from this port.  I can tell you the price of transportation from Houston to Galveston for six adults with luggage makes me hesitate to sail from here again.  Although I am looking forward to the much shorter and nonstop flight.

Liberty of the Seas

We have not cruised with Royal Caribbean since our Radiance of the Sea sailing in 2010.  We enjoyed it but they stopped sailing from the West Coast and Carnival beat them on price for a long time.  That’s changing.

I’m not only looking forward to experiencing this brand again but also on this class a ship.  We’ve booked promenade inside cabins for all of us.  It’ll be fun to have a view from an inside cabin.  We’ve never sailed on a ship with a promenade and I’m interested in how we’ll like the inside area.

Falmouth

Our port stops are Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Falmouth, Jamaica.  We’ve been to the first two ports multiple times but this is our first time docking at Falmouth.

The one other time I’ve been to Jamaica we docked at Ocho Rios.  Our plans for the day include a repeat of Dunn’s River Falls excursion.

Travel Companions

Last but definitely not least is we’re very excited to be going with two more of our kids.  Half the group has never sailed before and I’m looking forward to seeing the experience through their eyes.

For that reason we haven’t planned dining at any of the specialty restaurants for dinner.  This wasn’t just to save money although six adults would be costly.  But it’s mostly because we want them (and us) to get the full experience of the main dining room.

I’ll be back with the review soon.
