Mariner of the Seas: Sea Day 1

KayLynn · June 5, 2024 · Leave a Comment

I slept well and got up at about 6:40. I had laid out my clothes the night before so tried to get ready quietly but D did say good morning before I headed out the door.

Sea Day Morning

I made a b eyeliner for cafe promenade where I found coffee. After two cups I felt human, LOL.

I got a text from a friend asking if I wanted to join them for breakfast, so we met in the main dining room. It was so much fun I forgot to take many pictures (this is a theme of the entire cruise).

I asked for a chocolate croissant but was told they don’t have any; just chocolate doughnuts. What….

I had a Bloody Mary for my juice, a fruit plate and then the breakfast burrito.

It was very good!

Unfortunately I didn’t note when we were notified but the ship is making a medical evacuation today so we can going to Fort Lauderdale to drop off two people. I learned one person being disembarked was in our group. Thoughts and prayers with her for quick healing.

After breakfast, I went to the cabin and changed for a pool day. My roommate joined me and we had nice chairs in front of the windjammer with shade most of the morning. I had a second Bloody Mary.

We saw Fort Lauderdale and once the patients were disembarked, the captain announced port plans.

He said we were 10 hours behind schedule and could not make Labadee tomorrow so we would be going to Freeport, Bahamas instead.

Sea Day Afternoon

About an hour later the app was updated and shore excursions available with three options. We decided to see what was available outside the ship and found a good option at resortpass.com. It was Lighthouse Pointe at Grand Lucayan.

I made a reservation for eight of us.

Eventually D and I went to lunch in the windjammer where I had a good stir fry and coconut ranger cookies. After another bit at the pool, I went to the cabin to shower, read and eventually got dressed for our Cinco de Mayo evening.

When I got to the cabin this elephant was waiting for me.

Someone came by to deliver a gift from our travel agent.

Yummy!

All our ladies were at the Star Lounge at 4 pm for a cocktail party and the outfits were fantastic!

The drinks were flowing and we had a nice assortment of hot and cold appetizers. The event was over at 5 pm and we had to leave because people were waiting for Bingo!

Then we had 30 minutes before dinner so of course what do you do? Have a dance party. We found a live band at Boleros and the group dancing commenced. At 5:30 it was off to the dining room where we found a new table to dine and ended up filling 7 seats.

Sea Day Evening

It was the French menu (even though Mexican would have been more appropriate). I started with the Caesar salad. My entree was the beef tenderloin and it was terrific.

For dessert I ordered the chocolate chip cookies and they weren’t good. Afterwards, I went back to the cabin until it was time to go to the showroom. D and I found two friends on the promenade and walked together to the Royal theater.

The show was Gallery of Dreams and was entertaining. Of course it doesn’t compare to what’s on the big ships but for what it is, was good.

Then I went to the pub and got a bottle of water and can of ginger ale to finish off my Diamond drinks for the day. I danced my way past the dance party.

In the cabin I changed for bed and was settling in to read when the captain came one to say our port was changing once again. Apparently a ship in the berth cannot leave so we are going to have sea day Saturday and then call on Nassau Sunday.

While cancelling our resort passes (we had until midnight) I had one phone call and multiple messages from the other ladies about cancelling.  I was able to do that and got confirmation emails right away.

Went to bed about 11 pm.

The interior cabin on this ship is a nicely laid out design for two. The couch makes all the difference!
