Liberty of the Seas: Travel Day

KayLynn · March 8, 2022 · 1 Comment

The travel day for Liberty of the Seas and sibling cruise is finally here! I am on the same early flight this cruise as I took for my Carnival Horizon cruise earlier this month.

My wonderful chauffeur husband and I left our home at 4 am and had checked my bag and was through security and waiting for Peet’s coffee to open by 4:45. It opened at 5 am and I got the same breakfast sandwich and bottle of water for breakfast.

Flights

Boarding started at 5:40 and I was in the main extra cabin seat (9D). Didn’t quite clear the first class upgrade list (2 names away).

It was a good flight while I watched British Baking Show episodes I downloaded. Then got to Dallas and had to book it from B6 to C6. Got there with 15 minutes before boarding and ate my chicken sandwich packed by my husband. (heart)

Boarded in group one since I had complimentary upgrade to first class this leg. Flight was quick but we still had drink service with roasted almonds snack. Got to Houston early but it was a long “drive” to the gate and then had to wait about 10 minutes for crew to guide plane in.

Luggage was delayed due to lightening but once that cleared it was unloaded. Originally I was going to be the last sibling to arrive by a few minutes. My brother’s original flight was cancelled so now he was going to be in at 9:30 pm instead of 1:30 pm. My sisters’ flight was delayed a bit so they landed while I was waiting for the shuttle.

Unfortunately, by the time they got their luggage the driver had already passed their terminal so couldn’t swing by. He went right over there after dropping me. I checked in for both rooms and went down to greet them when the shuttle returned.

We’re staying at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Houston International Airport where I was able to book both rooms using Marriott points.

Miami Dinner

There weren’t any dinner restaurants within walking distance so Sister M got a list of restaurants from the front desk and suggested Brick House Tavern & Tap. Menu looked good so we ubered over there.

We were seated at a couch/table right next to the large fireplace.

Very cozy!  Drinks came quickly after ordering but straws and sweetener for the iced tea had to be requested a second time. I had a blackberry collins (yum).

Then we ordered starters and meals.

We shared soft pretzels with two dips (siracha and cheese) and deviled eggs.

Both were good but the egg whites were unnaturally firm.

For dinner, Sister T had the BBQ burger with tater tots and sister M had chicken tenders with tots. I had the filet mignon with cheddar mashed potatoes and subbed green beans for the broccolini.

Can’t get filet mignon for $25 in California.  It was good but I was full by the time we finished.

When we left it was cheaper to take Lyft back. All together we paid $36 round trip.  Back at the hotel, I managed to stay awake waiting for brother while sisters retired early.  Once he arrived, I was out!

That filet mignon with cheddar mashed potatoes looks great. I’m hungry just looking at it.
