Five Things Friday

KayLynn · September 26, 2014 · 2 Comments

It’s been months since we’ve had our Friday chat so grab a beverage and let’s chat about what’s on my mind this week.

Katie K Active

A couple of Katie K ambassadors were wearing items from the brand at Fitbloggin in June.  I really liked what I saw and ordered a top and capris.  I love them!

They’re well made and my favorite feature is the large and easily accessible pocket.  In the photo above my right hand is tucked into the pocket a bit so you can see where it’s located.

The top has a good sized pocket in the back which will also store a phone (although I haven’t tried it with my newest one yet).  I’m not an affiliate or anything but wanted to tell you how much I liked Katie K activewear.  It comes in sizes S to 3X.

Your Weight Matters Free Sessions

oac-live-streaming

The Your Weight Matters National conference starts today.  If like me you couldn’t make it there are two free sessions that are being live-streamed.  Today at 11:15 eastern click HERE for Vision is Vital: Challenging Falsely Acquired Thoughts.

Saturday at 9:15 am Eastern (ugh, that’s 6:15 am for me and 3:15 am for Hawaii!) click HERE for Get up! Non-exercise Activity Thermogenesis – the N.E.A.T. Energy of Life.

 Pumpkin Flavored Products

autumn-2855_640

It’s that time of year when pumpkin flavored products are popping up everywhere.  We now know that there is no pumpkin in the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice latte; it’s really about the spices that go into pumpkin pie I guess.

Other products sporting the flavor include Planters Pumpkin Spice Almonds, McCann’s Pumpkin Pecan with Cinnamon Irish Oatmeal, Philadelphia Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese, Eggo Pumpkin Spice waffles, and even Pumpkin Pie Pop Tarts!

The only one I’ll likely enjoy is one or two Starbucks PSLs.  I love them but the amount of sugar leads me to choose sugar free syrups most of the time.

iPhone 6

It wasn’t that long ago I was sharing news about getting an iPhone 5S phone.  Well, last weekend I got the new iPhone 6.  I wouldn’t have rushed out to upgrade except we were changing plans because my husband was finally ready to give up his basic cell phone for a smartphone.

He got the iPhone 5S and I moved up to the 6.  I do like the bigger screen and the weight but the jury is out regarding functionality.

Headlamp

petzel-tikkinaMy husband and I are usually heading out the door before 6 am for our morning walks.  This past week i twas just too dark.  Instead of carrying a flashlight with us like we did last year, I bought the Petzl Tikkina headlamp which retails for $19.99 at RoadRunner Sports. It’s even less if you pay the small fee for VIP membership which includes free shipping.

We tried it out this morning and it was perfect.  The headlamp is adjustable and there are two levels of brightness.  Again, this is a product I like and I’m not getting compensated to share.

That’s a little bit of what’s going on in my world.  What’s new with you?

I use a headlamp for morning walks with the dog and I love it, but I didn’t know there were inexpensive options available locally – I bought mine through Amazon. Also, you look amazing in that workout top, it’s a great color for you!
