Five Things Friday

KayLynn · May 2, 2014 · 1 Comment

Did this past week go as fast for you as it did for me?  I think it was because I had two evening events plus lots of workouts this week.  Here’s a little bit of what’s on my mind this week.

Hungry Girl Book Event

Do you know about Hungry Girl? Lisa Lillien started it as a blog ten years ago and it’s exploded into a huge business with cookbooks, a TV show and now her own weight loss plan. She was at a local bookstore earlier this week and I attended along with three of my weight loss buddies from the 7 a.m. Saturday morning meeting.hungry_girl_swag

Lisa is cute as a doll and spend about half an hour answering questions and sharing a little bit about the book. There were swag bags, prizes (alas, I didn’t win) and then she signed books. She is very nice and warm and my girl crush is even stronger after meeting her in real life.

The swag bag contained great coupons and food samples. My husband ate his blueberry Vitatop as soon as I got home!

Extreme Weather

This was a week of extreme weather all around the US. We had record heat in San Diego and other parts of California while there were record rains in the South. I hope you all escaped problems. I’ve been making sure all exercise sessions were in the early morning to escape the heat.  Today is supposed to have a high of 97 which is unheard of in May!

Gluten-Free Food Allergy Fest

Tomorrow I’m heading down to central San Diego to attend Living Without’s Gluten-Free Food Allergy Fest. I’m looking forward to the exhibit area the most for food finds but there is a full schedule of lectures and demonstrations as well. I’ll share what I learn in a future blog post.

What’s On My Night Stand

A couple of weeks ago I ordered a copy of Wheat Belly (affiliate link). After hearing about this book for a couple of years, I wanted to give it a read. It finally arrived a couple of days ago and I’m done with the first chapter. I’ll keep you updated on my thoughts as I get more into it.

Squats and Lunges

The new strength training routine I’m doing includes squats and lunges in the circuit for the first two weeks. My thighs are pretty sore after two sessions, but it’s not as bad at the time I tried Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred. I can sit to pee!

That’s what has been going on around here.  How was your week?

Aw, thanks for the sweet comment on my blog about Tony – I appreciate it! I knew another blogger who met Hungry Girl – I guess she’s really short and tiny!

    Have a great weekend!
